PogoPlug is now Mac friendly. It makes external hard drives accessible on your local network and over the Internet. They're sending me one, so we'll have a review soon.

Two iPhone projectors are coming to market. Lancer's iJector appears to work with any iPod that does video including the iPhone and iPod touch. Resolution is 557X234 and projection size is up to 50 inches, and has stereo speakers. The second one is a joint effort from BeamBox and MiLi. The Evolution Mini Power Projector is 10 lumens, and resolution is 640X480.

X-mini Capsule Speakers are smaller than an egg when closed, but they have a patented expandable vacuum that they say mimics the resonance of a sub-woofer. When expanded, one is about the size of an egg. We covered it on GeekBrief.TV and I was excited about it. It didn't come out and I forgot about it.

Monday, Hillcrest Labs finally released it an I ordered one from Amazon.com and I've been playing with it for about a day now and it rocks! On screen tracking was very precise. It doesn't require very much motion to move the cursor around the screen. The best part is the thumb scroll wheel. I wish every remote control had one.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work with Front Row since Front Row doesn't support mouse navigation. It works beautifully with Windows Media Center and it's even better with Elgato's EyeTV Hybrid. It took quite a bit of practice to learn to click hypertext links on a Web site. It took about an hour before I got my aim right.

The Loop is the most fun gadget I've played with this year and it works exactly like I hoped it would. It really makes me want to hook a Mac Mini up to my TV. It's also the best presentation controller I've ever used.

I've decided I won't be upgrading to the iPhone 3GS due to the upgrade pricing structure. Early upgrade pricing makes the 16GB version $400 and the 32GB version $500, and if you don't qualify for that, the full price is $600 for the 16GB and $700 for the 32GB.

Jorge Colombo has begun creating iSketches using an iPhone app called Brushes. Instead of setting up an easel in the middle of the street, he "paints" on his iPhone, and sells archival prints. The June 2009 cover of New Yorker Magazine is one of his iSketches.

Bella's Wireless HD Mouse is meant to improve the experience of editing video. You can assign specific movements (think gesture control) so you have a jog wheel, and with a single click, you can move right back into normal mouse behavior for non-editing applications.

There are two alternatives to an iPod that look promising. The iRiver P7 has a 480x272 LCD touch screen, supports a wide range of formats, and comes with 16GB of exapandable memory. The Cube B52 HD has a 5" touch screen and has the ability to output 1280x720 video.

Patrick Baudisch, a Microsoft researcher, created the nanoTouch, a prototype that explores putting touch navigation on the back of a device instead of the front so your fingers don't get in the way. I'm interested to know what you guys think about the idea. Leave a comment below!

I've been waiting for a change Twitter just made, and I wasn't completely sure they were going to give it to us. If you use a Twitter desktop application, like TweetDeck, you're probably like me in that you get frustrated when you go to the Twitter website. In the past on the website itself, you could only see @replies that started with @calilewis (as an example), but now you'll be able to see any tweet that includes your @username in the message, beginning, middle or end.

Sony didn't drop the price of the PS3, like I speculated yesterday, but the PS2 is now under $100.

Twitter can be called a lot of things, but one of the things it is is a great facilitator. It facilitates connections that make real differences in people's lives. Greg Grunberg (@greggrunberg) started using Twitter. My friend Rick "MacMerc" Yeager (@rickmacmerc) likes Heroes and when he noticed that Greg was using Twitter, he offered Greg some tough love to to help him get the most out of his Twittering. Greg and Rick became friends and now they're business partners. They'll be launching an iPhone App soon called Yowza!!

My friends Dave (@davecurlee) and Kat Curlee (@katcurlee) recently found out their daughter has epilepsy. Kat shared the news on Twitter. Greg Grunberg has a son with Epilepsy and he serves as the Chair for the National Walk for Epilepsy. He reached out to Kat with encouragement and advice and really helped to alleviate tons of anxiety Dave and Kat were feeling.

Greg, Rick, Dave and Kat all connected on Twitter and it didn't matter that one of them was a famous TV guy. Twitter just put them on equal footing as nice people who could help each other.

Last week, I tweeted about the Dell Adamo, and now it's been launched. At first, we thought it would a MacBook Pro competitor, but it's actually more comparable to the Air. It'll sell for $2000.

I've never experienced an app or site that has taught me so much about my website. They released version 1.3, although in my opinion it should be 2.0, because there are so many new features. ASUS ALSO announced (and this one I want) the ASUS Eee PC Keybaord. It's a keyboard that has a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom -powered nettop built in. It kind of looks like an Apple keyboard but on the side is a 5-inch touch screen. The keyboard connects to a display via HDMI. There is also a wireless version that uses wireless HDMI.

It combines great software, great service and a very nice little piece of hardware.

Kindle 2 feels better to hold. It's softer and there are plenty of possible ways to hold it without accidentally turning pages. With Kindle 1, when you wanted to awaken it from sleep, you had to press two buttons with two fingers or two thumbs. That's been replaced by a simple slide of the power switch. Slide it again and Kindle will go back to rest.

Kindle 1 was extremely readable and I had no complaints about the contrast, but Kindle 2 is just better. Letters and images are crisper and they pop a little more.

It took me about 20 seconds to adjust to the 5-way joy stick. The shiny, silver bar on Kindle 1 was extremely cool, but like I said early on, it seems like that bar was just something they did because they could. It wasn't necessary and loosing it makes Kindle 2 a little more elegant.

I've had about 2 hours with Kindle, since I unboxed it on video. To me, it feels like the UI is sleeker. It feels like I can accomplish tasks in one or two clicks when it used to take several. A good example is if you want to delete a book. With Kindle 1, I would go into menu and then choose content manager, click a box beside a title and then click an option to delete it. With Kindle 2, all I have to do is slide the joystick to the left and I immediate get the option to "remove from device."

Text to speech is good enough that I'll use it, but not good enough to keep me from thinking it could be better. I know the guy who is the voice of Kindle. You can find Tom Glynn at myspace.com/tomglynn.

Kindle has a section called Experimental. At first we had Basic Web browsing, Play MP3 and Ask Kindle Now Now. Ask Kindle Now Now is what was replaced by Text-to-Speech. I gave Basic Web a try to see if there was anything different. It looks basically the same, but somewhere along in the life of Kindle Amazon enabled something that wasn't originally possible when Kindle 1 dropped. You can Tweet and send and receive Gmail from the Kindle now. Dave Peterson from GadgetyTech.com confirmed that he was able to tweet from his Kindle 1 a little while back so it may not be new, but it was news to me.

Initial looks at any device rarely hold up over time. Using Kindle 2 over time, I'll find things about it that I love more than I thought I would and things about it that I don't like so much. With Kindle 2, Amazon.com sanded off the rough spots and released just what I wanted the first time.

The Bushnell HD Torch Flashlight throws away the circle in a circle projection that we're used to in a flashlight, and adopts a square beam of light that I'm very intrigued by.

Next step twitter. I asked if anyone else is getting the error and it appears to be happening to everyone on every search.

I decided to go live on ustream as we tried and figure out what wass happening.

Then we heard from Google. They explained that it was human error:

What happened? Very simply, human error. Google flags search results with the message "This site may harm your computer" if the site is known to install malicious software in the background or otherwise surreptitiously. We do this to protect our users against visiting sites that could harm their computers. We work with a non-profit called StopBadware.org to get our list of URLs. StopBadware carefully researches each consumer complaint to decide fairly whether that URL belongs on the list. Since each case needs to be individually researched, this list is maintained by humans, not algorithms.

We periodically receive updates to that list and received one such update to release on the site this morning. Unfortunately (and here's the human error), the URL of '/' was mistakenly checked in as a value to the file and '/' expands to all URLs. Fortunately, our on-call site reliability team found the problem quickly and reverted the file. Since we push these updates in a staggered and rolling fashion, the errors began appearing between 6:27 a.m. and 6:40 a.m. and began disappearing between 7:10 and 7:25 a.m., so the duration of the problem for any particular user was approximately 40 minutes.
