I attended the R.E.M. show at ~~Great Woods~~ ~~the Tweeter Center~~ the Comcast Center on Friday evening and had a blast, even managing to shoot five seconds worth of video in between visits from the jerkiest security guard in the world. The downside: going to the concert has gotten me obsessed with songs from the latest R.E.M. record, Accelerate, which I don’t own. This week’s Geek Force FiveCast has me pondering what to do when you can’t afford an album, but don’t want to steal it.

Last week, I had the immense pleasure of attending SomerVaudeville, a 21st century vaudeville performance featuring my friend Andy Hicks (The Pluto Tapes), among others. It was put on my Theatre@First, a Somerville-based drama troupe, and I had a grand old time.For the past week, I’ve struggled to put together a movie of the footage I shot at Johnny D’s that night. I’m not sure if this video quite captures the awesomeness of that evening, but when it features banjos, musical saws, and covers of both Paula Abdul and Kermit the Frog, how can you not watch?

Last Thursday, I had the pleasure of attending the grand opening of the brand new Apple Store on Boylston Street in Boston. Gary from ifoAppleStore selected me to be one of a handful of correspondents that he would arm with a Flip Ultra video camera to record the festivities, and this week’s Geek Force FiveCast is montage of the footage I shot that evening. The music, in case you’re curious, is by Pop Bubblegum Trash, my old one-man band. The song is called “Six String Symphony.”
