Links right on the front page now!!!
We have T-Shirts etc...

Tell me about comfortably numb

The Song My House”, the opening track, is a call to transcend the usual mundane experience that all too many accept as life; its driving energy and sexy bass lines lead into an anthemic and unforgettable chorus: Is this a sort of how you would say you are doing things in your musical career? YOUR OWN WAY.
There’s a distinctive force behind Running Still’s music that’s undeniable.Tell me what it is/where it comes from.
Did you get to hang out with a lot of famous musicians?

5 questions:
Chocolate/Vanilla
Gibson/Gretch
Dogs/Cats
Redheads/Blondes

What is/Do you have a favorite venue?

Biography

There’s a distinctive force behind Running Still’s music that’s undeniable. The Brooklyn, NY based rock quartet plays with a passion that draws their listeners in and leaves them wanting more. Their dynamic live shows prove this is a band with staying power, and people are starting to take notice. In the beginning of 2008, they will be touring up and down the east coast, playing clubs and colleges, looking to connect on a level deeper than most acts. As Zwerin declares, “We want to be able to do what we love for a long time and to reach as many people as possible. We’re devoted to the idea that you can change the world through something that although seeming small, is totally impactful. What we’re about and what our music is about is creating something that inspires people to think and dream.” With boldness of intention and an audacious new album Running Still is set to fulfill their mission to inspire the myriad of emotions that make people feel truly alive – love, hope and passion.

Biography

There’s a distinctive force behind Running Still’s music that’s
undeniable. The Brooklyn, NY based rock quartet plays with a passion
that draws their listeners in and leaves them wanting more. Their
dynamic live shows prove this is a band with staying power, and people
are starting to take notice. And with their debut album, "Running
Still," they are poised to show everyone their vision of what’s
possible for rock in the 21st century.

Running Still is originally the brainchild of Asi Meskin, a singer,
songwriter, guitarist and keyboard player. Meskin met bassist Ben
Zwerin after approaching him on the streets of the Lower East Side of
Manhattan. Zwerin, who comes from a musical family (his father played
with jazz legends such as Eric Dolphy and Miles Davis), has a
"McCartney"- like melodic sensibility that caught Meskin's ear.

The two began touring together hitting major markets like New York,
Philadelphia and Washington D.C. They eventually began to look for
other players to expand their sound. One night while Asi was working
as a sound engineer at a club in NY, he met drummer Chris
Higginbottom. He was drawn to his solid but propulsive style; keeping
the band locked in, but always with the potential to soar.
Raed Khazen, a guitarist and long time friend of the band, was the
last piece of puzzle. His guitar style, influenced by a love for the
unconventional, would ensure that the band would always rock. When the
four players finally united, they described the experience as one of
alchemy, of elements transforming to create something magical.
Beginning to play out under the name Running Still, the band’s
reputation as a live powerhouse began to grow, bringing new, hopeful
exciting energy to the listener.

Having spent much of 2007 recording, the band is poised to make 2008
their breakthrough year. Their new album is the sound of a band
discovering what rock is truly capable of; creating a realm of
spirituality, inspiration and possibility for both band and listener.

Biography

Here is a quote from one of Tommy Strazza's biggest fans and it is by
no means biased by their friendship to him or by the fact that they
are in actuality writing the very same bio you are about to read.

When Tommy straps on his guitar, whether it’s in a dusty, drunken
New Brunswick apartment or on stage at the world famous Stone Pony, he
becomes a completely different person. It’s the kind of person we
don’t get to hear from too often these days. The kind of person
looking to take us somewhere special and it’s somewhere each and
every one of us will never want to leave.

Tommy Strazza was born to play rock and roll music. And that’s not
a quote, it’s a fact. One of the East Coast’s best kept secrets,
Tommy grew up in the quiet suburban town of East Brunswick, New Jersey
and has been flapping his musical wings across the country for a
decade, spreading his rock n’ roll gospel for all to hear,
performing both solo and currently with his band Tommy Strazza & The
Model Citizens.

”The live show is church to me”, explains Tommy. “Some bands
and artists take you to school but I want to take you to church and
baptize you in all that is good, pure, and sacred about rock and roll
music, and everyone is welcome.”

Since many of the bands Tommy has played in have had rotating roster
issues and in order not to lose momentum, Tommy took the liberty to
learn how to play several instruments. In addition to writing and
producing all of his own songs, he performs some of them entirely on
his own as well.

He started his first solo project ”Crawl” in 1999. His
self-titled second release was kicked off with a highly acclaimed
performance at Asbury Park’s Stone Pony on September 22, 2002.

"That was one hell of a show. I’m glad to have been a part of Tommy
Strazza's world for an hour." - Tris McCall, Jersey Beat Magazine.

Having recently completed his third solo album, Tommy has been
playing all over the east coast, both solo and with his band. He
continues to leave an impression on the growing New Jersey rock scene.

”I want to be an inspiration, a risk taker, and an envelope pusher.
I want to excite people about music; the way it grabbed me as a
kid.”

Time to get excited folks, because Tommy Strazza has arrived!!!

Tommy’s song “Detour” has been nominated for Song of the Year
at The 2007 Asbury Music Awards.

hey guys! thanks a ton for playing our song "pharaoh" and for digging
the tune. great show btw!
to clarify, i live in Montgomery, AL and Allen (the singer/lead on
that tune) lives in Sacramento, CA. hence the name.
we have never met face to face. so we think we are charting new
territory with our music.
you mentioned that is sounded like Iron Maiden from back in the day.
once i wrote, arranged and recorded the music, minus Allen's leads, he
was stumped for lyrics.
he sat back and looked at the poster of 'Eddie' on his wall and asked
himself "What would Eddie do" . So your reference is dead on the mark.
Anyway, again thanks for the dig and airtime. come back and check
some more of our stuff. Great Podcast again!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

FINESPUN
"Every once in a while, a band that is totally different than my
stream of consciousness will make its way onto my radar. Finespun is
one of these bands."

-Aly Walansky - Indierockgoddess.com

The problem with the music industry is that there are not enough
bands like Finespun. They are persistent, hardworking and
aggressive. These gentlemen exploit every possible opportunity that
comes their way. When there isn’t a visible opportunity they have
a knack of creating their own.

r
They're regulars at clubs in the northeast and open for the likes of
Gilby Clarke (formerly of Guns 'N Roses), Wheatus, The London
Quireboys, Hookah Brown (Black Crowe's) and Kings X. They tour the US
from New York to Austin and everywhere in between. In addition they
have received invitations to both SXSW and 2NMC. As a result of this
exposure and their continued popularity, they have been chosen as one
of the top fifty bands in the country by Coca-Cola's New Music
Awards. Finespun was also involved in the Emergenza and Bodog
competitions.
The New York based band is Oren Barak (vocals, guitars), Chris Smith
(guitars), Doug Tammany (bass), and Ed Grazi (drums) and is without a
doubt a band to watch not only on the New York City circuit but also
throughout the nation. Finespun generates much of its stage presence
and studio creativity through a sense of respect for musical
inspiration

The long-term goal for Finespun is to gain more fans and further
extend the reach of their music. Offering tracks like "Hourglass", one

Gimmick? Scandal? Hype? None of the above. The Illinois quartet comprised of Kevin "Eddie Prez" Presbrey (Guitar/VOX), Jeff Kissel (Drums), Adam Harker (Bass) and Leif Hendrixon (Guitar) aims to earn success with a steadfast determination to succeed, a tenacious work ethic and, oh yeah, some memorable songs. "We made our name by making good music," explains Painkiller Hotel's vocalist and main songwriter, Prez. "I'm extremely proud of what this band has been able to achieve without the help of some crazy image. People are drawn to the band based on the strength of the music, not because our moms sued us in court or our mug shots were on FOX NEWS." With the pending release of band's first album for Severe Records, "Black Roses," Prez says he believes their new music will help people put a face to Painkiller Hotel's music. "Black Roses" features ten tracks produced by Chris Sevier (Matt Woods, Eliot Morris, The Livin' Legend, Chance, Mista D, Paris Luna) and mixed by George Tutko (Duran Duran, Blondie, Rod Stewart, John Cougar, and The Rolling Stones). Their first album captures a band that is mature enough to know its strengths, and ambitious enough to try new things. "Coming into this record, our goals were to show how much this band has progressed after touring and waiting until we had perfected our live show," explains Prez. We wanted to bring in a producer who was similar to Desmond Child (Bon Jovi, Aerosmith) to help perfect our songs, and that's exactly why Chris Sevier was perfect for this record. Also, we aimed to refine what we do best as a band and give ourselves room to branch out in different directions." "Black Roses" does just that by combining Painkiller Hotel's knack for surging anthems-"Lead Me On" and "Your All I Ever Wanted"-and dark rockers-"Weakness" and "You Don't Know What Your Missing"-with more experimental tracks-"Brightest Flame" and "Voice In My Head." While the albums' first single, "Lead Me On" distills the best elements of Painkiller Hotel's music-shifting dynamics, huge choruses and tight arrangements-the quartet was eager to throw away the map and explore various sonic avenues on "Black Roses." That adventurous spirit is evident in the tripped out textures of "Changes," a song that Prez and Sevier came up with by coming up with the melody first instead of a guitar riff. "I didn't plan for it to sound like a roots-rock song, but that's the way it came together naturally so I decided to go with it." That attitude, serving the best interest of the song instead of serving your ego as an artist, became an important part of the recording process, explains bassist Adam Harker. We've all been guilty of adding something to a song that makes us feel better artistically, but takes away from the song as a whole," he says. "When we started recording, we made a serious effort to check our egos at the studio door and serve the song first," Interjects drummer Mike Krull. Painkiller Hotel earned its stripes playing the regional bars and clubs throughout the Midwest over the past few years. Their grassroots support for the band caught the attention of Severe Records, which signed Painkiller Hotel this fall to a non-exclusive one album deal with the possibility of up streaming. Once the record is officially released in 2007, the band will launch a radio promotion campaign through Tinderbox Music, a publicity campaign, and tour across the states, leaving just enough time to shoot some music videos in between. Look for their record in every digital store on the internet.
Kazy
Kazy has been waiting to happen for quite some time. Kazy is a struggle to break out, to move ahead, to unlock the restraints, to face the fear, to find a way, any way to make it there. To find that peace we know is out there somewhere. Im after it, and Kazy is the reflection of the journey. As Kazy will have its presentation and marketing, it will be secondary to writing the best music possible with as much conviction and passion that exists in me. As much as I am excited to bring this to the public eye, it serves as a therapy for me personally to reach within me and pull out the emotions to make this music as convicting as possible. The hope is in that people will feel something real, something tangible, something that will give them chills or make them cry, let them relate or want to write their own song. This is the beginning of a long term project. Welcome to Kazy.
Katie Todd
Thousands of fans and three releases into her career, Katie Todd continues to shine. Having shared the stage with such music scene luminaries as Juliana Hatfield, Patti Labelle, 10,000 Maniacs, Steve Winwood, Margot & The Nuclear So & So's, Kenny Loggins and The Wallflowers, the Chicago Arts and Entertainment Magazine has recognized Katie as "a breath of fresh air that the Chicago music scene has been waiting for."
Lauded by iTunes.com as having one of the "top buzz bands in the country", Katie recently claimed a spot as the website's "Artist of the Week", earning over 200,000 downloads of their latest single "Face Down". On her fourth and most recent release, Make Some Time For Wasting, Katie's captivating voice and signature percussive keys-playing are showcased most boldly on her haunting single, "Leave," which tells a tale of woe that has radio and TV programmers hailing it as "one of the most perfect pop songs to come along in quite a while."
Recognizing the momentum of Katie's success, Musicbox Online has aptly dubbed her talent as "smart, compelling…and ready for fame." her debut release, Changing Faces, was named "best independent release of the year 2000" by WXRT Chicago. Katie was a finalist in Milwaukee's 2002 Big Break Competition, in Ireland's 2003 Reach Contest, 2006's International Songwriting Competition, and General Motors' 2006 Music Contest. she also won Chicago Metromix's "Rock 'n' Vote" 2005. And with over 3,700 friends on MySpace.com, headlining a packed House of Blues last year, and having just performed at Lollapalooza 2006, Katie Todd clearly makes no time for wasting.
Mindsite
Thousands of fans and three releases into her career, Katie Todd continues to shine. Rob Merz, Jim Brennan and Chad Noyes met in college at Iowa State University in 1994. They immediately clicked over a mutual love for music and quickly started playing in a few bands together, eventually forming their first successful band, Good Things in 1996.

After a year of local touring, Good Things recorded their debut album, Fit the Groove, in 1997. They found some success throughout Iowa, Chicago, Missouri and Minnesota and also saw some radio play on college and small market stations across the mid-west. After a year or two of touring to support Fit the Groove, Good Things split up due to members in the band relocating to separate cities.

In 2001, Rob and Chad both moved to Chicago and right away they hooked up with Jim to start something new. While searching for a new drummer and singer, they were lucky enough to find two talented individuals; one being amazing drummer Michael Mooshey, formerly from the Chicago band The Fez (and before that Seventh Heaven). After several months and several arguments, Rob, Chad, Jim and Mike started to realize that their new singer had differences in the artistic direction in which to take the band, so they decided to part ways. As fate would have it, Jim was living with a friends younger brother, Johnny Alletto.

Johnny was the lead singer of the band Jank, was a trained accapella singer and had been performing acoustic shows for several years around the Chicago-land area. The five of them hit it off and started jamming on songs they had written over the last few years. After a couple months, a good collection of an albums-worth of songs had been born. They decided to name themselves after where it all started ... Ash Avenue; the street where Rob, Chad and Jim lived in college.

Unfortunately, the final band member line up was not settled completely. In the summer of 2006, Mike Mooshey decided to hit the road with a previous band and left Ash Avenue, remaining a great friend to the band. With multiple shows quickly approaching during the summer busy season, Ash Avenue needed a drummer fast. The band was connected with Eric Ellis who had recently moved to Chicago from Cincinnati where he had played in numerous local bands. Once in Chicago, Eric hit the ground running with Ash Avenue, and never looked back.

Ash Avenues brand of rootsy pop-rock has recently started to grab quite a following and their new, debut CD "And Then We Ignite" has garnered numerous rave revie

(Guitar/VOX), Jeff Kissel (Drums), Adam Harker (Bass) and Leif
Hendrixon (Guitar) aims to earn success with a steadfast determination
to succeed, a tenacious work ethic and, oh yeah, some memorable songs.
"We made our name by making good music," explains Painkiller Hotel's
vocalist and main songwriter, Prez. "I'm extremely proud of what this
band has been able to achieve without the help of some crazy image.
People are drawn to the band based on the strength of the music, not
because our moms sued us in court or our mug shots were on FOX NEWS."
With the pending release of band's first album for Severe Records,
"Black Roses," Prez says he believes their new music will help people
put a face to Painkiller Hotel's music. "Black Roses" features ten
tracks produced by Chris Sevier (Matt Woods, Eliot Morris, The Livin'
Legend, Chance, Mista D, Paris Luna) and mixed by George Tutko (Duran
Duran, Blondie, Rod Stewart, John Cougar, and The Rolling Stones).
Their first album captures a band that is mature enough to know its
strengths, and ambitious enough to try new things. "Coming into this
record, our goals were to show how much this band has progressed after
touring and waiting until we had perfected our live show," explains
Prez. We wanted to bring in a producer who was similar to Desmond
Child (Bon Jovi, Aerosmith) to help perfect our songs, and that's
exactly why Chris Sevier was perfect for this record. Also, we aimed
to refine what we do best as a band and give ourselves room to branch
out in different directions." "Black Roses" does just that by
combining Painkiller Hotel's knack for surging anthems-"Lead Me On"
and "Your All I Ever Wanted"-and dark rockers-"Weakness" and "You
Don't Know What Your Missing"-with more experimental tracks-"Brightest
Flame" and "Voice In My Head." While the albums' first single, "Lead
Me On" distills the best elements of Painkiller Hotel's music-shifting
dynamics, huge choruses and tight arrangements-the quartet was eager
to throw away the map and explore various sonic avenues on "Black
Roses." That adventurous spirit is evident in the tripped out textures
of "Changes," a song that Prez and Sevier came up with by coming up
with the melody first instead of a guitar riff. "I didn't plan for it
to sound like a roots-rock song, but that's the way it came together
naturally so I decided to go with it." That attitude, serving the best
interest of the song instead of serving your ego as an artist, became
an important part of the recording process, explains bassist Adam
Harker. We've all been guilty of adding something to a song that makes
us feel better…</itunes:summary>

Mixing thrash metal from the 80’s and 90’s with the hard-core sounds of today, Silence (now Silence Syndicate) hits the stage like a ton of bricks. Silence has already built a legacy of it’s own through constant self promotion. They have been booked with Type O Negative, Fear Factory, Agnostic Front, Static-X, Earshot, Celtic Frost, Strapping Young Lad, American Headcharge, Soilwork, Bloodsimple, Nashville Pussy, The Starting Line, Silent Civilian, Misery Index, Dick Delicious and The Tasty Testicles, Supafuzz, Adema, Left Front Tire, Mastodon, Sic Seed, Darkane, Mirage, and many more. Satilite broadcasting giant, Direct TV, has signed liscensing agreements on five Silence Syndicate songs to be used in next season’s programming and requested prodution of a new video for “Raven Song” to be aired on “The Fizz”. The band is endorsed by Halo Guitars, Coffin Case, Michael Kelly Guitars, Hot Picks, Pro Tone Pedals, Knucklehead Strings, and Enigma Tattoos. They have played hundreds of shows and sold thousands of CDs. Although they have turned down record deals with independent labels in the past, Silence always maintains an open mind to all offers. They were included on Alcool Records’ compilation album “Blacklisted By The Industry 2”. To this date they have released six albums on VD Records: “Victim Of My Own Design,” “Selling The Lie,” “A Piece Of The Action,” “Dogmata,” “all or nothing…,” and “One Moment Of Desperation”. A new CD and DVD which features all of their videos are in the works and will be out soon. Extreme Cam Rental is using their music in helmet cam videos. They were one of six bands selected for Metro Pc’s “Next level Competition” to get to play the 96 Rock main stage at Atlanta’s Music Midtown with Def Lepard, Cheryl Crow, and Bob Dylan. They earned a nomination at the 27th annual Entertainer Indi Association Awards in the top band category after their single “Taboo” was played on “Record Row Review.” Silence was featured in this year’s East Coast Showcase and made it into the top 32 in the nationwide Bodog Battle Of The Bands. Their internet promotions have helped them create a worldwide buzz. A live video of the band performing “Raining Blood” debuted on acidplanet.com’s video charts at #18 only four days after it was released. Each time a new song is debuted on myspace.com, where they have over 12,000 fans, it immediately generates thousands of plays. Silence has worked hard to get results through flyering before and at shows, promoting themselves on the radio and in newspapers, giving away free CDs, building a mailing list, and by putting on the best shows they possibly can. Both had been jailed for theft. The escaped prisoner had less than two weeks left to serve.

Marijuana is not a drug, it's a leaf,' says Schwarzenegger
By Ciar Byrne, Arts and Media Correspondent
Published: 29 October 2007

Already facing enough problems with the wild fires that have swept California, the state's governor Arnold Schwarzenegger may have stepped into a new row by claiming that marijuana is not a drug. In an interview with GQ magazine, the Hollywood star turned governor of California insisted: "I didn't take any drugs."

The interviewer, former Daily Mirror editor Piers Morgan, put it to the star that he had admitted smoking marijuana in the past. In Pumping Iron, the bodybuilding documentary which launched his career 30 years ago, he was shown taking a drag on a spliff.

"That is not a drug. It's a leaf," said Austrian-born Mr Schwarzenegger, 60. "My drug was pumping iron, trust me," he added.

When George Butler's critically acclaimed 1977 documentary Pumping Iron was re-released in 2002, before Mr Schwarzenegger ran for governor of California, he was unconcerned by the scene showing him smoking marijuana, saying – in a pointed reference to former US president Bill Clinton who claimed never to have inhaled: "I did smoke a joint and I did inhale. The bottom line is that's what it was in the Seventies, that's what I did. BERLIN (Reuters) - A 19-year-old German woman has escaped from prison
by hiding in a friend's suitcase.
The fugitive hid inside the large case when her 17-year-old fellow
inmate was released from the youth prison in northwest Germany on
Friday, Lower Saxony ministry spokesman Dennis Weilmann said on
Monday.

The girl simply walked out of the building with her friend concealed
in her luggage, Weilmann said.

"Our staff are going to make sure they inspect big suitcases more
carefully in the future," Weilmann said.

Neither of the teenagers has since been caught. Both had been jailed
for theft. The escaped prisoner had less than two weeks left to serve.

Marijuana is not a drug, it's a leaf,' says Schwarzenegger
By Ciar Byrne, Arts and Media Correspondent
Published: 29 October 2007

Already facing enough problems with the wild fires that have swept
California, the state's governor Arnold Schwarzenegger may have
stepped into a new row by claiming that marijuana is not a drug. In an
interview with GQ magazine, the Hollywood star turned governor of
California insisted: "I didn't take any drugs."

The interviewer, former Daily Mirror editor Piers Morgan, put it to
the star that he had admitted smoking marijuana in the past. In
Pumping Iron, the bodybuilding documentary which launched his career
30 years ago, he was shown taking a drag on a spliff.

"That is not a drug. It's a leaf," said Austrian-born Mr
Schwarzenegger, 60. "My drug was pumping iron, trust me," he added.

When George Butler's critically acclaimed 1977 documentary Pumping
Iron was re-released in 2002, before Mr Schwarzenegger ran for
governor of California, he was unconcerned by the scene showing him
smoking marijuana, saying – in a pointed reference to former US
president Bill Clinton who claimed never to have inhaled: "I did smoke
a joint and I did inhale. The bottom line is that's what it was in the
Seventies, that's what I did. I have never touched it since." Mr
Schwarzenegger said that it was not necessarily a matter of public
interest whether politicians had taken class-A drugs.

He said: "What would you rather have? A politician taking the stuff
and not saying, but making the best decisions and improving things? Or
a politician who names the drugs he or she has taken but makes lousy
decisions for the country?
